Precision Gun Specialties was created to address the specific needs of law enforcement agencies and private gun owners. Its founders include a state police officer and a tool & die shop owner, both experienced marksmen. Their first product, the Tac Guard, was launched in 1988. PGS has gone on to obtain two patents (for the Tac Guard and Grip Plus 2) and to develop additional innovative products that can't be found anywhere else.
